Bridging visa E enquiry preview
The enquiry service is being prepared. The form displayed on this site is a disabled preview: it cannot send a question, date or contact detail, and nothing entered there is collected. If you need advice before a deadline, contact an Australian migration lawyer directly.

A visa end date or decision-notification date can help identify relevant deadlines, but ART review time runs from notification under section 347 of the Migration Act 1958.
At a glance
- Current form status: disabled preview; no enquiry is sent.
- For urgent help: contact an Australian migration lawyer directly.
- Home Affairs or ART application: viewing the preview lodges neither.
- Deadline: viewing the preview does not pause one.
What should a Bridging visa E enquiry include?
If you contact a lawyer directly, prepare these details without putting sensitive documents into this site's preview:
-
Your situation: for example, an expired, refused or cancelled visa, work permission, Ministerial intervention or another visa.
-
The relevant date: your visa end date or the notification date on a decision notice. Section 347 of the Migration Act 1958 generally allows 28 days after notification for ART review, or 14 days if you were in immigration detention on that day. The first 28 days after a substantive visa ends can also matter for the PIC 4014(5) departure exceptions in the Migration Regulations 1994.
-
Contact details: a phone number or email address the lawyer can use.
-
Sensitive records: keep documents, passport numbers, visa grant numbers and payment details out of the preview. Discuss any document transfer directly with the lawyer.
Where does your enquiry go?
No enquiry is received through this site while the form is disabled. An Australian migration lawyer is an Australian legal practitioner working in migration law; Form 1008 defines a legal practitioner as a lawyer holding an Australian legal practising certificate.
Advice about your own application falls within immigration assistance under section 276 of the Migration Act 1958; this guide does not provide that assistance.
What happens after you send it?
You cannot send an enquiry through this site yet. Before the form can be activated, the lawyer recipient, delivery route and privacy handling must be confirmed. The disabled preview does not lodge anything with Home Affairs or the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART).
Deadline: ART review generally remains due within 28 days after notification, or 14 days if you were in immigration detention on that day, under section 347 of the Migration Act 1958. Waiting for this site's form does not extend either period.
Does sending this form lodge a Bridging visa E application?
No. The form cannot send details now, and an enquiry would be separate from a visa application in any event. Under the Migration (Arrangements for Bridging visa applications) Instrument (LIN 21/045) 2021, a Bridging visa E application uses ImmiAccount where eligible, or paper Form 1008.
Can someone send an enquiry for me?
The site cannot accept an enquiry yet. A family member or friend can instead help you contact a lawyer directly, including if you are in immigration detention. Have the decision date and usable contact details ready.
Will this guide reply to me?
No. This guide does not provide individual advice, and its enquiry form is disabled.
How your details are handled
The disabled preview does not collect or forward your details. The privacy template identifies handling details that must be confirmed before any future enquiry service starts. Read the terms of use or return to the Bridging Visa E Guide.
This guide is an information publisher, not a law firm, migration practice or government site.
